Early
on in his career, Argentinian-born Victor Biglione eaned
his repetation as a top-line studio musician as part
of Rio's busy music scene. While many of his recordings
are hard to locate these days, a 'Best of..' collection
holds many great moments, making Biglione a featured
performer for this year's 'Brazilian Guitar Month'.
The
CD is called 'Biblioteca' and Biglione's fluid, electric
guitar style is the bedrock for this greatest hits collection,
15 songs that range from his classic ballad 'Balea Azul'
to fusion burners like 'Jean', 'Rio California' and
the haunting 'Invitation'.
In
Portuguese, Biblioteca means library, and Victor Biglione's
library is well stocked with his greatest hits. This
talented guitarist has added his special synthesis of
jazz-fusion to a multitude of top Brazilian stars and
this carefully balanced collection shows why. With a
fluid, rapid-fire technique that belies his Argentinean
background, Biglione weaves his musical magic with songs
like "Balea Azul" (an early Ambiant anthem)
and the energetic pulse of "Rio California."
Hard to find, this CD is a rare treasure from an artist
who has a real knack for getting things right.
Biglione
is perhaps Brazil's most underrated guitarist. A mainstay
of Rio's studio scene, his compelling virtuosity and
flexible style of play has graced hundreds of albums
from Gal Costa to Emilio Santiago.
His
passport contains stamps for Montreal, New York and
Los Angeles, as well as dozens of European stops as
this talented guitarist has molded a career of exotic
and powerful recordings: from duets with pianist Marcos
Ariel, his work with Boca Livre's Zé Renato to
his solo settings and self produced titles.
Equally
adept in both the acoustic and electronic worlds, guitarist
Victor Biglione is an amazing performer, and Biblioteca
is a five star collection of his best recordings
