Yesterday would have marked singer Elis Regina's 67th birthday. But as our world grows ever smaller, the prominence of cultural icons such as Elis Regina begins to shrink as well, slowly replaced by the quickening pace of the latest trend, the 24 hour news cycle, and the next Twitter subject for his or her "140 characters of fame."

Charlie Sheen, anyone?

This is the time of year where, as Spring arrives and clocks likewise "spring ahead", we stop to look back at the woman who many consider to be Brazil's greatest singer. So, for taking the time and effort to learn about Elis Regina, let me say 'thanks'! This year, we extend an invitation to read her story and then vote to determine her 'fan favorite' song...| Read, Rate, Respond | Poll | My Page |

.Program host Scott Adams' notes:

Now Playing: Spring is the season we look forward to most - and as soon as it arrives, we can't wait for summer! It's our annual salute to spring - and I always have a lot of fun putting this show together.

If there's a spring-like 'Chill' in the air this week, you can bet its Brazilian - with Chico Science, Germanys' trumpet star Till Bronner and Latin Vibe's 'From Paris to Rio.' Gilberto Gil brings us a top song from 1983, there's an early hit from Eliane Elias and Oscar Castro-Neves - with a soundtrack Samba from the movie 'Blame It On Rio'.

I'll sprinkle in a pair of spring-fling Bossas from Marcos Valle and Baisa, while the softer side of the season comes to us from Ed Johnson & Novo Tempo, Torcuato Mariano's guitar, and singer Stacey Kent.

This week's version of 'Waters of March' comes from Al Jarreau and Oleta Adams, and Dori Caymmi's 'Spring' provides a closing bookend to our season-changing show this week.

We've waited for this show for three long months (some of us even longer!), so don't miss this show!

Don't forget - you're invited to read the life story of Brazil's greatest singer, Elis Regina. and next week we'll wrap up the month by lighting another candle for our favorite 'Girl Form Ipanema'. | Listen now - 24/7 |
