The long march towards Carnaval begins around this time every year – the serious work of endless rehearsals for the Samba schools ignites just before Brazil’s Independence Day on September 7th, and Maria Rita is right in the mix with ‘Samba Meu’ (‘Samba Mine’).
The singer’s two previous CDs have brought worldwide fame in more than 40 countries, with more than a million and a half CDs sold. As has been the case for each, ‘Samba Meu’ has been surrounded by secrecy by her Brazilian record label, but here’s what we’ve been able to learn:
This new CD is filled with previously unrecorded Sambas from Rio’s greatest composers, and she invited as special guests the ‘old guard’ Samba masters from Mangueira escola to join in the celebration. Produced by Leandro Sapucahy, the CD showcases the music of Gonzaguinha and Arlindo Cruz (one of Sambas young lions), who penned the song ‘Tá Perdoado’ which is already a radio hit in Brazil. All indications are that this promises to be a brilliant tribute from one of Brazil’s rising stars!
Connectbrazil has obtained the full length single of ‘Tá Perdoado’ for you to enjoy.
