Clearly the 70’s were the decade of Deodato – from ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’, his debut hit in 1972 and his work with Frank Sinatra and Jobim to a string of synth driven instrumental pop releases, each sporting Deodato’s smooth but insistent jazz/fusion style.

And although his Brazilian roots always shine through, Deodato is a musical globe-hopper, and that’s part of what gives this CD its unique appeal. ‘Love Island’ seems to be (and go) everywhere: from the Hawaiian charm of ‘Area Code 808’ and its surf-line bass play to ‘San Juan Hut’ with its ‘romance on the high seas’ sound. Then there’s "Tahiti Hut," which is co-written by Deodato and Earth, Wind & Fire's Maurice White, and co-starred by three of its top members: Verdine White, Freddie White and the percussion master Philip Bailey. The ‘A’ list doesn’t stop there: It also includes guitarist George Benson and Larry Carlton.
