Stereo Hookup

You don't have to be tied to your computer to listen to our webcast channels at Connectbrazil.com. Here's a simple guide to help you enjoy our programs on your home stereo!

It's easy to connect your computer to your stereo receiver and enjoy our Connectbrazil.com programming for The Sounds of Brazil, The Sounds of Brazil 'Extended' webcast channel and the Brazilian Blend channel, via the rich, room-filling sound of your home audio system. It only takes a couple minutes and a little planning. You'll soon be enjoying our 'Crystal Clear' digital sound - better than FM radio!

To get hooked up, follow these simple steps:

Option #1: Wired

This is the perfect choice for Connectbrazil.com fans who have a laptop or notebook computer with a wireless connection to the Internet, or for those who have their 'desktop' computer positioned near to their audio system. Inexpensive and easy!

STEP 1. Purchase an extended cable adapter with a stereo mini-headphone jack on one end and left and right stereo RCA-type plugs on the other end. RCA plugs are those red and white plugs that hook into the back of your stereo receiver. You can find this type of cable (also called a stereo 3.5mm Y Adapter cable) in various lengths at your neighborhood electronic store or through many online retailers. Be sure to purchase a cable long enough for your needs.

STEP 2.
Plug the mini-headphone jack into your computer's audio 'line out' plug. If your computer does not have a 'line out' plug, you may use the headphone plug.

STEP 3.
Connect the two RCA plugs on the cable to the AUX, CD or TAPE input jacks on your stereo receiver. Use the RED plug for the right channel and the WHITE plug for the left channel.

STEP 4.
Turn the volume down on your computer, then turn on your stereo and switch to either the AUX, CD or TAPE input (whichever you used to connect the RCA cable). Turn the volume down on your stereo system. Now, increase the volume to MAXIMUM on your computer, and then increase your stereo's volume to your preferred listening level.

STEP 5. That's it! Now you're ready to enjoy Connectbrazil.com's webcast channels in full stereo with your home audio system.

Option #2: Wireless

This is a great choice for Connectbrazil.com fans who have a computer that is not close to their stereo system. We use systems like this in our offices and at home.

For this option, you'll need to purchase a wireless audio transmitter and receiver - usually sold in a pair (one each). The transmitter will use the same basic cable as in option #1 (above) to connect to your computer's 'audio out' plug. The receiver is likewise connected to your stereo's AUX, CD or TAPE input jacks These systems transmit the audio from your computer to your stereo across longer distances and from floor to floor. Because these systems transmit on frequencies close to wireless phones, we advise you to carefully research the these various brands to find one that will match your needs. Be aware that these devices might share the same frequency with other appliances in your home.

There are several companies which make high quality wireless systems for audio, in a price range of $!00-200.00 +. Purchase at your neighborhood electronic store or through many online retailers. We suggest using a search engine like Google to read reviews on-line before making a buying decision.Setup is easy and usually takes only a few minutes to align the antennas.
