March 1, 2024

Ready for Spring? For Brazilian music fans, Women’s History Month is off to a great start.

It’s the 50th anniversary of Elis & Tom’s recording of ‘Aguas de Março’ plus March birthdays for Elis, Flora Purim, Astrud Gilberto, and Eliane Elias.

Connect Brazil’s live streaming station is spinning a different version of ‘The Waters of March’ daily. The Women of Brazilian Song streaming channel is playing its role, and fans are reading homepage stories like this one.

JAZZIZ magazine’s focus on Brazilian music releases in March, too. I was invited to write the issue’s Coda column and was asked to consult on tracks for the included sampler.

Check out our full-page ad in the JAZZIZ print edition and tell me what you think!

Here’s a note of thanks. Publisher Michael Fagien hired me at the start of my career with Brazilian music and it’s an honor to be included.

What’s Happening This Week At Connect Brazil

Charting Action

Unique for Brazilian music, the New Music: Brazil channel is bringing us closer to a listener-based chart for Brazilian music. Here’s what we are seeing:

  • 25 of the top 100 songs of 2023 resulted in at least 15,000 plays and 50 listener ratings. That’s an 11% increase over 2022.
  • The top-performing songs garnered at least 25k plays.
  • The Top 2 songs of 2023 surpassed 35k plays.

Fans dedicate more time and greater engagement with Connect Brazil’s programming than other streaming options.

  • On average, a Connect Brazil fan listens for 4 hours and prefers to identify as a Brazilian music fan, regardless of other music interests.

Thanks for supporting Connect Brazil’s streaming channels with your posts and mentions. We’re here to support you while serving fans who can’t wait to hear what you’ve created for them!

This includes our live-streaming station and the 15 channels I program for AccuRadio.com, plus The Sounds of Brazil’s weekly syndicated show:

And I appreciate it when you send your singles and albums. It makes it much easier for us to stream and broadcast your music.
