Daniela Soledade – Best of Brazil 2019

Back when Daniela Soldade was recording this song, no one could have known that it would become a lasting tribute to João Gilberto.

The Father of Bossa Nova passed away in July, and just as with her debut album, ‘Eu Sambo Mesmo’ opened Gilberto’s legendary self-titled recording back in 1991.

That makes A Moment of You a worthy contender among a competitive field of singer-songwriters for the Best of Brazilian Music Showcase for 2019.

Released in September, the album features Bossa Nova gems, standards and original songs as a stunning introduction to the luminous tone and mature interpretive powers of this Brazilian born, Florida-based vocalist.

Daniela’s family ties have meaning here: Both her father and grandfather partnered and performed with the top Brazilian musicians of the day, including Antonio Carlos Jobim, Vinicius de Moraes and Tim Maia, Gilberto Gil, and Ivan Lins.

A Moment of You has earned excellent reviews since its late-Summer release.

Downbeat Magazine’s three-and-a-half-star review praised Soledade for “the pristine clarity of her vocals.” All About Jazz praised its “overriding level of exquisite and heartfelt performances.”
