Welcome To The Brazilian Minuite

Welcome to Brazil’s Bicentennial year and welcome to The Brazilian Minute, a new weekly feature that will introduce you to Brazil’s greatest stories about inspiring individuals, unforgettable places, and historic events.

Who invented the wristwatch? Where did Brazil proclaim Independence? Why do Brazilians speak Portuguese?

Brazil is an American nation, just like ours. It’s a melting pot nation, home to a multitude of peoples and cultures, all blended together to become uniquely Brazilian.

My goal is to bring you stories that will inspire, entertain, and most of all help you to appreciate Brazil’s first 200 years as a nation, its people, its culture, and its future.

So welcome! Listen to each weekly story anytime, and read the print edition with expanded content on the home page at Connectbrazil.com.

For The Brazilian Minute, I’m Scott Adams.

Brazil’s diversity is the result of two centuries as South America’s largest nation and as one of the hemisphere’s most vibrant democracies. From its colonial past to its promising future. From the tropical wonders of the Amazon to its four and a half thousand-mile coastline. We’ll explore Brazil’s greatest stories here, each week.
