It took trips half way around the world for the two musical legends to meet. Here’s what happened with Sergio Mendes and Nile Rogers made the connection in Australia.
The musical meetup happened during a break in Melbourne between tours ‘down under’ for Sergio Mendes and Nile Rogers, and the chemistry was instantaneous:

Rogers, whose songs with Chic included ‘Good Times’ and ‘Dance, Dance, Dance (Yowsah, Yowsah, Yowsah)’ from the group’s debut album (which featured a young Luther Vandross and future Spyro Gyra leader Jay Beckenstein) showed an early connection to Brazil with this song:
“But I have to say I’ll miss #Australia. It’s been other worldly,” Nile Rodgers tweeted. “But I did get to meet the genius @sergiomendes for the 1st time and we’re going to make a record together”.
Nile collaborates with hitmakers like Lady Gaga, Diana Ross, Christina Aguilera, David Bowie and Madonna. Likewise, Sergio Mendes has featured Black Eyed Peas, India.Arie, John Legend, Janelle Monae, Stevie Wonder and Justin Timberlake.
