March 1, 2024
Ready for Spring? For Brazilian music fans, Womenโs History Month is off to a great start.
Itโs the 50th anniversary of Elis & Tomโs recording of โAguas de Marรงoโ plus March birthdays for Elis, Flora Purim, Astrud Gilberto, and Eliane Elias.
Connect Brazilโs live streaming station is spinning a different version of โThe Waters of Marchโ daily. The Women of Brazilian Song streaming channel is playing its role, and fans are reading homepage stories like this one.
JAZZIZ magazineโs focus on Brazilian music releases in March, too. I was invited to write the issueโs Coda column and was asked to consult on tracks for the included sampler.
Check out our full-page ad in the JAZZIZ print edition and tell me what you think!
Here’s a note of thanks. Publisher Michael Fagien hired me at the start of my career with Brazilian music and it’s an honor to be included.
Charting Action
Unique for Brazilian music, the New Music: Brazil channel is bringing us closer to a listener-based chart for Brazilian music. Here’s what we are seeing:
- 25 of the top 100 songs of 2023 resulted in at least 15,000 plays and 50 listener ratings. That’s an 11% increase over 2022.
- The top-performing songs garnered at least 25k plays.
- The Top 2 songs of 2023 surpassed 35k plays.

Fans dedicate more time and greater engagement with Connect Brazil’s programming than other streaming options.
- On average, a Connect Brazil fan listens for 4 hours and prefers to identify as a Brazilian music fan, regardless of other music interests.
Thanks for supporting Connect Brazilโs streaming channels with your posts and mentions. We’re here to support you while serving fans who can’t wait to hear what you’ve created for them!
This includes our live-streaming station and the 15 channels I program for AccuRadio.com, plus The Sounds of Brazil’s weekly syndicated show:
And I appreciate it when you send your singles and albums. It makes it much easier for us to stream and broadcast your music.
Connect Brazil Updates The 2024 Spring Showcase

Connect Brazilโs Brazilian Jazz Appreciation Showcase highlights Aprilโs Jazz Appreciation Month. We are already promoting this month-long event, online and on the air.
Great timing for new recordings and your standout catalog titles to help you stay in touch with those who matter most!
Bring your music to new fans, fans of other Showcase musicians, and your fans, too. They’ll be thrilled to see you there.
What’s Next?
June’s Top Brazilian Summer Sambas Showcase! Our Autumn Harvest Music Showcase is set for early September followed by The Best of Brazilian Music Showcase on Thanksgiving Day.
Connect Brazil Showcases are affordable and effective. Everyone invests a little so we can do a lot together:
- Twelve of 2023โs Top 15 Brazilian music songs (80%) incorporated Connect Bazil’s Showcases into their promotional planning. Two earned 2024 Grammy nominations.
