“I started to go to New York’s Blue Note when I was a child, and I have always been fascinated by it,” Blue Note partner Daniel Stain explained to the Rio Times. “In September [2016], [my partner] Calainho and I embarked on the project of bringing Blue Note to Rio. Now, the dream is coming true.

“For this project to work, it was fundamental to have good musicians around. Rio seemed to be the perfect place because this is where many musicians stay”.

Nestled in Rio’s posh, upscale Zona Sul neighborhood of Lagoa, the Blue Note Rio debuted on August 30, 2017, with high expectations to become Blue Note’s first location in the Southern Hemisphere. Growing pains led to a new location next to the iconic Copacabana Palace Hotel in 2023.

The Blue Note Rio brings you close to the music; it’s classy, cozy, and intimate with great acoustics. Nightly events cover a wide range of quality Jazz artists, and the restaurant offers a varied menu for casual dining.
