Welcome to Connect Brazil’s Listener’s Choice Winners for Brazilian music in 2023.

2022 was an impressive year for fans of Brazilian music and culture. Brazil celebrated its bicentennial year, and with it came milestone anniversaries for several important songs, albums, and events.

The Year In Music

Our listeners celebrated the 60-year anniversaries of Stan Getz and Charlie Byrd’s Jazz Samba album and Bossa Nova’s legendary concert at Carnegie Hall.

Connect Brazil’s readers discovered the story behind the first recording of Antonio Carlos Jobim’s ‘Aguas de Março’ (The Waters of March) to mark the song’s 50th year.

They enjoyed learning about the 50th anniversary of Clube Do Esquina as Milton Nascimento prepared to end live performances, with a final concert tour.

Fans returned to local venues large and small to enjoy live music from their favorite musicians. Many of Brazil’s stars toured the US, including Marisa Monte, Eliane Elias, Sergio Mendes, and Roberto Carlos.

We said goodbye to Pelé, Jô Soares, Gal Costa, Erasmo Carlos, and Elza Soares.

Connect Brazil presents top songs, albums, and stories for Brazilian music and culture. It was an amazing year!

Listener’s Choice

Connect Brazil is dedicated to fans of Brazilian music and to supporting the musicians who create the music we love.

In addition to our 25 years of creating award-winning editorial content, we program the USA’s only live-streaming radio station for Live365.

We produce the nationally syndicated weekly streaming radio show, The Sounds of Brazil!. We also manage programming for the USA’s largest independent streaming network for Brazilian music, at AccuRadio.

Importantly, the New Music: Brazil channel features the Top 100 Brazilian songs, as rated by Brazilian music fans.

Fans vote for songs from one to five stars and overall song performance is defined by a number of real-time listener-driven metrics.

Thresholds for these metrics help to determine the results for our Listener’s Choice Winners.
